Mark introduced endovenous surgery into the UK in March 1999. In 2000, he started pelvic venous embolisation for the treatment of pelvic congestion syndrome and pelvic vein reflux. In 2001 he invented the TRLOP (TRansLuminal Occlusion of Perforators) treatment for incompetent perforating veins, and in 2004 published both "transmural cell death" and thrombus following radiofrequency ablation, subsequently called "EHIT".
In 2011 Mark founded The College of Phlebology, running regular venous courses and an International Meeting in London in 2017, 2018 and 2020.
Mark introduced endovenous microwave ablation of varicose veins to Europe in February 2019, and in May 2019 performed the HIFU Echotherapy treatment of varicose veins in the world, using Sonovein.
Mark has over 120 peer-reviewed publications, international and national prizes, and sat on the UIP international committee for pelvic congestion syndrome. He sits on the international committee of the American Venous Forum has been invited to sit on the editorial board of the Journal of Vascular Surgery Veins and Lymphatics.

Mark has recently set up the College of Phlebology International Venous Registry to help compare outcomes between different techniques, different clinicians and different populations.
