Tariq Ahmad

Tariq Ahmad studied medicine at both Oxford and Cambridge Universities, obtaining a degree from both. He taught anatomy at Cambridge University before starting surgery where he posts in general surgery, vascular and urological surgery, orthopaedic and ENT gave breadth of experience prior to achieving success in Fellowships at both the Royal College of Surgeons of England and of Edinburgh.

After undertaking research (oncogenes and melanoma) at the Medical Research Council (Cambridge) he was awarded a number for senior training in Plastic Surgery to Consultant level.

Specialist training in surgery for clefts in Cambridge, Edinburgh, London, and overseas led to five years as a Consultant in Edinburgh, where he helped organise the national Cleft Service for patients with cleft lip and palate there (‘CleftSiS’). He was head hunted back to Cambridge to help run the Cleft Network for the East of England as a primary surgeon, naming the Network ‘Cleft.Net.East’. Mr Ahmad has travelled teaching participating in charitable surgery overseas including for cleft children and adults.

Mr Ahmad still works in the NHS whilst also running a private practice. He is Director of his Medical Aesthetics & Plastic Surgery Clinic, 'Cambridge Clear Beauty, in Cambridge.

He has won a number of awards including the Arnold Huddart medal (twice), the Craniofacial Society of Great Britain President’s Prize (twice) and the BAPRAS video prize. He is known for his artistic eye, skills in poetry and singing; he is on the Faculty of the ‘Sculpture for Surgeons’ and runs the ‘Drawing for Surgeons’ courses.
